Who is he?
Eoin Moore is a member of the Wexford senior hurling team for the past four years. 

He also plays club hurling with Oulart the Ballagh.

He is currently undergoing his final year of Exercise and Health studies in Waterford Institute of technology and hopes to graduate next January.

Describe your lifestyle:

Describe  your diet in a few words:

I would describe my diet as being healthy with one “treat” day a week, normally a Sunday. When I am not training or have my head in the books (thesis time!!) 

How do you relax?
I like to listen to music, socialize with friends and play the guitar. 

How well do you sleep & for how long?
I normally aim for eight hours of sleep a night which sometimes can be tough especially when I have an early start in college which means I have to be up at around quarter to seven.

Describe your training:

I like to prepare my food the night before and I feel most of the lads on the team do also, to make sure we are eating the right foods, and taking in the right amounts. 

On a typical week I train three nights a week with the team, three nights doing gym work and one day off. 

It’s a bit different at the moment as I'm out injured so its five nights in the gym.

Where do you buy your food in Wexford?
Where do you buy your main groceries?
Normally my main groceries are bought in Pettitts in Wexford town.

Where do you buy your meat? 
I have started buying my meat in the butchers in Clonard. They have recently started providing “gym packs” which contain turkey, chicken and venison. A weeks supply costs 25 beans so I find it a great shout!!

Fresh or frozen?
Fresh.

Where do you buy your fish?
Pettits Supervalu

Where do you buy your vegetables?
Pettits Supervalu

Do you buy food in the local Health Food stores?

What are your favourite restaurants and cafes in Wexford?
Overall Pettitts and Clonard butchers cater for all my needs. My favourite cafes in town would have to be Stable Diet and Cistin eile. If anyone hasn’t tried the chicken Caesar in Cistin eile I would highly recommend it! Quality!!

Do you look for any particular standards when selecting food?
I normally stick to organic vegetables and free range chicken and eggs. I don’t mind forking out a bit extra for quality. This can be tough at times though as student life is a tough one! I would always be looking at where the origin of my foods comes from, so I like to stick Irish!

Do you just buy what's on special offer?

No

Do you buy organic vegetables?
Yes

Do you buy grass fed beef/ free-range chicken and eggs etc.
Free range chicken & eggs

Do you try to buy local/ farmer's market.
Stick to Irish produce

Do you try to buy Irish? Which are your favourite products?
Yes, I always try to buy Irish.

What do you eat in a typical day?

Breakfast:
For me it’s the hardest meal to get into me during the day as I have to be up fairly early for college. 

It normally consists of three boiled eggs on homemade brown bread, with a piece of fruit and tea. 

I have finally come around to porridge too, with a hint of honey!

Lunch:

Lunches normally consist of some form of salad with a meat or fish. 

I'm a big tuna lover so that’s never too far away from the lunch box!! I try to get it prepared the night before so I don’t snack on lower quality foods in college. 

I also normally have a Nature Valley bar (peanut) and a protein shake to wash it all down. 

I try to stay clear of too many carbs except before training and in peak season.

Evening meal:

My evening meal normally consists of a meat or a fish loaded with vegetables. 

I try to use them to fill me up and stop me horsing the spuds into me!! 

My meat comes in the form of steak, chicken, venison or turkey.

Snacks:

I normally carry around a bag of almonds or some form of nuts that provide healthy fats. 

I also like fruit salads, peanut butter and bananas. 

I try to eat five times a day so that means two snacks and my three main meals.

How often do you eat the following?

How often do you eat red meat- 2-3 times a week with sirloin steak the favourite!

How often do you eat poultry- 3-4 times a week, breast of chicken the favourite!

How often do you eat fish- 2-3 times a week. Has to be salmon!

How often do you eat cereal- rarely maybe once twice a week, favourite being porridge.

How often do you eat soup- maybe once a week in college! Mushroom the fav!

How often do you eat fruit- everyday! Grapes or plums!

How often do you eat vegetables- everyday! My favourite would have to be brocolli

How often do you eat salads- everyday! Chicken Caesar is favourite

How often do you eat potatoes- Maybe 1-2 a week, little as possible!

How often do you eat bread- two slices of homemade brown maybe 3 times a week

How often do you eat rice- maybe once a week

How often do you eat nuts- probably 4-5 times a week, almonds the favourite

How often do you eat sandwiches/wraps/rolls- maybe twice a week.

How often do you eat sweets/chocolate- Once a week treat!

How often do you eat crisps- never

How often do you eat take away? rarely

How often do you eat deli food? Never

How often do you eat out at a restaurant? Once a week

How often do you drink coffee/tea? Tea every day, coffee maybe 3-4 times

How often do you drink alcohol- never

How often do you drink smoothies/juices- maybe twice a week

How often do you drink sports drinks/protein- every day.

How often do you drink water? everyday

What is your favourite recipe?

Medium to rare cooked steak served with onions and mushrooms and pepper sauce.

Do you use supplements?

I take Pharamathon, Omega 3 fish oils and magnesium tablets along with protein. 

The protein is supplied by the County team and everything else is bought in The Arena in Wexford and the Health food shop.
