Paul Roberts is a well known Strongman in Wexford.
He is also a qualified NCEF fitness instructor since 1995.

Paul is from old Ross, Wexford.  He trains in Wexford.

Describe your lifestyle:

Describe your diet in a few words. 
Balanced high protein with higher fat than normal, average carbs.

How do you relax? 
A good movie

How well do you sleep & how for long? 
Sleep good.
Average between 6 -7.5 hours a night.

Describe your training:

I train 5 days a week which includes 1-2 days event training for Strongman competitions.
Sessions range from 50 minutes - 2 hours.
Does your diet fit into one of our stereotypes? If so, which one? If not, what would you brand it as? 

No.  Diet varies more to lean muscle gain and physical appearance.

I detox regularly without going over-board, always ensuring alkaline foods is a high content/ presence in my diet.

What are your favourite restaurants and cafes in Wexford? 
Whitford House Hotel carvery is a regular for me.  With young kids we don't get to dine out.

Do you grow any of your own vegetables, fruit or herbs?
Yes.  We grow:
- Onions
- Cabbage
- Tomatoes
- Strawberies
- Green beans

Do you look for any particular standards when selecting food?

My food standards are very high.  I like to buy local & I like to buy meat from the butchers. I get free-range eggs from my mother-in-law. I get vegetables from my own vegetable patch.

Do you buy what’s on special offer?
No.

Do you buy organic vegetables? 
I get vegetables from my own vegetable patch & from Pettits Supervalu.

Do you buy grass fed beef/ free-range chicken and eggs etc. 
I buy meat from the butchers.

Do you try to buy local/ farmer's market?
I like to buy local.  I get free-range eggs from my mother-in-law.

Do you try to buy Irish? Which are your favourite products? 
Yes.

Do you try to buy Wexford products? Which are your favourite products? 
Yes.

Breakfast:

I always eat breakfast.

What is your favourite breakfast? 
Egg whites + Porridge + Protein Shake

What is your go-to everyday breakfast? 
14 egg whites scrambled. 1 bowl of porridge mixed with protein shake.

Do you pre-pack a lunch/ eat it at home/ buy it somewhere?
My wife cooks my lunch.  Otherwise, I go to Whitford House Hotel.

Do you prepare it- or someone else in your house
My wife.

It varies:
- Chicken stir-fry + rice
- Shepard's Pie + Salad
- Chicken casserole

I cook it myself.

3 x Chicken breasts + Salad + Raw Vegetables

What is your favourite recipe?

My wife's Shepards Pie  (non-dairy)

I buy all of my supplements online from Rainbow Wholefoods.

Anything to add?

Just a general comment about why a lot of illness in Ireland can be easily corrected:

- Drop sugar and associated foods and go back to basic foods.

- Eat far more salads

- Eat large fulfilling meals that are of it's original state.

Schools must start teaching nutrition and cooking classes from the age of 6 now- If not the HSE will cost another 30% more to run in 10 years time.
